Also seems to work with the Nokia 2161 - all you need to do is change all the references from 2160 to 2161 and change the usb ID to 0x0421/0x0088

This used to work for me under Tiger but I'm having problems getting it working under Leopard.

    Any solutions?

    Thanks in advance!
  • Shane Lord · 1 year ago
    Adam,

There should be no problems using this under Leopard (I am using it without issue). What kind of errors are you experiencing?

What you could try is in iSync, resetting the device or removing the device and re-adding it.

    Regards,
    Shane.

Works like a charm. Very well done!

    Mac OS X 10.4.11
  • einav · 1 year ago
Cheers, mate. Works pretty good.
however, for some reason it doesn't sync events created on the phone, even though I chose a specific calendar for it under iSync prefs. When I try to sync, the phone indicates it's sending the new event, but the new event isn't created on iCal. Any idea what's causing it?
I'm using the newest iMac, with Mac OS 10.5.1
  • Karina · 1 year ago
    Hello,

    Thanks for sharing this. :)
Contact sync works beatifully, but iCal sync seems to have some issues. I have six calendars, and only Birthdays seems to be syncing.
    Any idea why?
Sorry to bug you, and thanks again.
  • Karina · 1 year ago
Sorry, please ignore the last post. I had the date wrong in my phone. :P
    Thanks a lot!

  • Jerome · 1 year ago
    Hi mate,

Thanks for this, do you know if it works in USB?

    I have an ibookG4, not a macbook, so I don't have bluetooth.

    Cheers,
    Jérôme.
  • Shane Lord · 1 year ago
    Jerome,

I hadn't tested it under USB, but after a quick check through the code I found the Model ID was incorrect, so have updated this. I checked USB under Leopard but got an error in the log with an Apple CDC driver not loading - quick research in Google seems to state this is a Leopard problem so USB may work for you.

I've uploaded driver version 1.1 with the Model ID fix - click on the download link to get it, and let me know if it works via USB.

    Thanks,
    Shane.

    Re Nokia 6120

Hi, have created folder and did bluetooth setup ok .. but when I try to isync it connects to the phone but then says this device is not supported by isync .. then another message says iSync cannot connect to this device.

    Any Ideas?

    Kind regards

    John Irwin

Anyone know how to get iSync working via USB with the 6120c?

iSync works with Bluetooth, and Nokia Multimedia Transfer works via USB, but iSync via USB doesn't.

    Thanks for any help!

    (Running Tiger OSX 10.4.11)

  • Kerrie · 1 year ago
Hi Thanks - I was really please when I found this as it was so disapointing about the phone not working with macs - - but it is not working - I have only 10.3.9 and no bluetooth hardware on my home computer - so I put the plugin file where you suggested and to do that had to make a phone plugin folder - attached the usb cable to the phone opened isych and it says 'no devices found' any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi Shane,

I am an absolute Mac newbie and managed to follow these instructions.

You saved me a lot of time and utter confusion.

    Thank you so much! :)
  • simon · 1 year ago
Nice one and it works better then the mac versions for other phones. Makes you wonder what mac and nokia were thinking not producing one. You do not have something that reads txt messages off the phone do you??
  • pooperscooper · 1 year ago
    thanks...

    worked like a charm!
  • Madi · 1 year ago
hi- looks great but what am I doing wrong???
tried to download the link but can't unzip it as it is a folder of contents with nothing to unzip??
I'm a neewbie to MAC am I missing a crucial bit of software?
(running on MAC OS X 10.4.11)

    can anyone help me??
    cheers
  • Geo · 11 months ago
If you are looking at a folder called contents and another file - you are one folder too far. Go back or drag it from your 'downloads' folder.
  • Madi · 1 year ago
just worked it out ( duh!)
great- so simple and worked a breeze.
    THNAKS!!!
  • newmacuser · 1 year ago

What if there's no PhonePlugins folder? Should I just create one?
  • Rob · 1 year ago
Duh.. Just re-read it.. Sorry about that.. it's late..
  • Mick O Donoghue · 1 year ago
thank you so so much. PERFECT.
  • My name · 1 year ago
This is a good job - thanks.

Looks like one issue - groups set in iCal are not carried over to the groups in the phone. I've had to manually create and assign groups in the phone - and of course, manually duplicate group info whenever syncing. Is it possible to enhance your work to do this for us?

    Thanks!
  • free download mobimb · 1 year ago
thabk you for the link. i need it
  • Clint · 1 year ago
got all excited, did the install, but no luck - iSync finds and lists the 6120, but then get message that "iSync cannot connect to this device". The phone will transfer by bluetooth to Outlook in the windows partition on the same iMac, but of course that has the PC suite to work with - very weird.

will have a play, but not looking good. May be difference here (australia).

interesting that an hour ago Nokia customer care (Australia) told me that no solution was available :-)

This is fantastic! The engineers at Nokia are some lazy bums! How can you make plugins for all other phones and not the 6120. God bless!

Hi- this has been great for 3 months- now having issues with an hours time difference between phone and computer events when I sync. Both set to same time ( and zones, including daylight savings). Any ideas as to what is the problem? would love the help- bit annoying trying to keep track.
    many thanks

Mate you are a bloody legend! Thanks heaps for this plugin... Works like a treat!
  • Pepe · 1 year ago
Hey, you saved my life. I've been 2 days trying to migrate my contacts from a WM device to a nokia 6120, I've tried every kind of import/export vcard tool (google, outlook, nokia) , to no avail. This plugin has done it seamlessly through iSync.
    Thank you!

IT DIDN'T WORK!!! LOL! Just kiddin'! It didn't work at first, well, even after several tries. But I just thought of rebooting and wallah... it sure worked flawlessly, WOOHOO!!!. So I guess such step can be included in the description in case others experiences the same thing as I did.

    Many many thanks Shane! :D

    :-)
  • Jesper Nielsen · 11 months ago
    Thnks in a million. :D
  • Bo · 10 months ago
That's great- but the plugin doesn't transfer categories assigned to contacts. For example, if you assign all your contacts a category in the Mac Addressbook, this information is lost when it is transferred to the phone. Same for the reverse process. AND if you edit a contact on the computer, when you transfer it to the phone, you will lose the contact info you assigned there.

Not very satisfying....but better than nothing I guess.

This did not work for me until I copied it to:
    HD/Users/user/Library/PhonePlugins
(had to create the last folder)
    Thereafter iSync worked fine.
Thank you very much for this post.
